The Delhi police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a pollution-free Diwali. The police have raided many warehouses, shops and factories that could make or sell firecrackers, thus breaching the Supreme Court's order.
The North Delhi district police have seized over 655-kilogram firecrackers on Saturday from three places of the capital.
Also, 625 kilograms firecrackers were seized from Sadar Bazar, 11.1 kilograms from Subzi Mandi. The Burari police have seized 7.9-kilogram firecrackers.
"We received a tip-off about firecrackers being stocked at a shop in Sadar Bazar. We raided the place and found the stockpile of crackers, weighing 625 kilograms," said Nupur Prasad, Deputy commissioner of police (North). While probing, the police found that the shop was owned by one 35-year-old Ravinder, a resident of Laxmi Nagar. The accused was arrested under Sections 286 (Negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance) of the Indian Penal code and Sections 5/9 B (b).
"During interrogation, the accused revealed that he used to purchase crackers from a supplier called Kamil. He was planning to sell it to small shops across the capital. A probe has been initiated to trace the source," Prasad said.
Police have arrested three more people who were found for allegedly planning to sell firecrackers.
A man was arrested on November 2 for allegedly storing 625 kilograms firecrackers without a license in Tilak Nagar. The sleuths said this was the third case registered in connection to firecrackers with Tilak Nagar police station in last 3 days. Earlier, 490 kilogram and 75 kilograms of crackers were recovered from two places.

While probing, the police found that the shop was owned by one 35-year-old Ravinder, a resident of Laxmi Nagar.
