Making the bill payments easier as the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on Sunday launched a unique payment method for its residents. The Smart Bill pay initiative, would allow the residents to pay their water and electricity bills via ‘Smiley Fridge Magnets’.
The fridge magnets will be distributed by the NDMC to its residents consuming water and electricity, which would allow consumers to scan the unique QR code to get a status of their bill and would also direct them to a page which allows them to make payments for these bills.
These innovative fridge magnets will be personalised and each consumer will have a unique QR Code mapped to their consumer account (CA) number. There will be separate magnets provided for both electricity and water bills.
“The consumers can stick these magnets on their refrigerator at home and scan the QR Code on the magnet to pay their bills instantly. The QR Code will re-direct the consumers to their current bill with an option to pay using any of the digital payment channels activewith NDMC like online Credit/Debit cards, Net Banking, Wallet, UPI,” said MS Shehrawat, Advisor (Public Relations) of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
